Some Starbucks customers say they are disappointed about the launch of the "Bearista" cup after it appears to have quickly sold out around the country.

The 20-ounce glass cup, which sold in stores for $29.95, is part of Starbucks' holiday merchandise line, which was released on Thursday, Nov. 6.

Shaped like a teddy bear, the cup also has a green Starbucks stocking cap and a straw.

While hype typically mounts around the release of Starbucks' holiday menu and collection, some people are saying they were let down by the lack of availability of the Bearista cup. Others said they arrived to stores before the sun came up to try to get their hands on one.

"This was a waste of my time," one person commented on Starbucks' Instagram. "The bearistas were sold out before the doors even opened and other stores only had about 2 bearistas."

Is the Starbucks Bearista cup sold out?

Starbucks confirmed in a statement that the Bearista cups have sold out.

"The excitement for our merchandise exceeded even our biggest expectations and despite shipping more Bearista cups to coffeehouses than almost any other merchandise item this holiday season, the Bearista cup and some other items sold out fast,” the statement said.

It's unclear whether the cups will be restocked before the end of the holiday season. USA TODAY has requested more information from Starbucks.

'I want to give you my money so bad but I guess y'all don’t want it'

On Instagram, customers flooded Starbucks' comments about the lack of stock.

"Petition for a re-release of the bear cup," one person said, while another quipped, "I want to give you my money so bad but I guess y'all don’t want it."

"I find it quite disappointing that a big company like Starbucks would release a new collection that clearly generates hype and inevitably, frustration," one user said. "I’m sorry, but this time the disappointment has real consequences. There are plenty of alternatives out there, and many of us feel let down."

Several people on Instagram and TikTok said they arrived at stores before dawn to be first in line to get the cup.

"People camped out all night to not even get one," one person said on Instagram, then adding, "Please don’t market something so heavily if people don’t even have the option to actually purchase it, it’s has the opposite effect of what you are hoping for."

Some videos on social media appeared to show people getting upset with workers or aggressive with other customers over the cups.

Some people say they don't get the hype

Meanwhile, others took to social media to dissuade people from searching for the cup.

"It’s a fad/trend that will be over in a matter of months. we will be seeing these in thrift stores by summer," one person wrote on Reddit.

Another responded, "It literally just looks like one of those honey containers that's shaped like a bear lol. I don't get the hype."

Some people even said they accidentally broketheir cups — which are fragile because they are made of glass. Others suggested similar alternatives from other retailers like Amazon.
