K.C. Pharmaceuticals voluntarily recalled more than three million bottles of eye drops in a Class II FDA recall because the products may not be sterile. The affected batches, sold under many brand names and distributed to retailers such as Walgreens, Kroger and CVS, have expiration dates from April to October. Consumers are advised to discard the recalled bottles.

On March 3, eye care product distributor K.C. Pharmaceuticals issued a voluntary recall for more than three million bottles of eye drops.
The eight impacted product batches were sold under various brand names and have expiration dates ranging from April to October. They were distributed to nationwide retailers like Walgreens, Kroger and CVS.Ask about it
The FDA categorized it as a Class II recall on March 31.Ask about it Class II, the agency's second-highest recall class, indicates that using the impacted product could cause temporary adverse health consequences.

Which eye drops have been recalled?
Eight types of eye drop products that were each sold to various brands and distributors are included in the recall.
Many of them can be identified through their Universal Product Code or National Drug Code numbers, which are typically found near the barcode on the bottle.
They can also be identified by their lot code number, which is also printed on the bottle.

What to do with recalled eye drops
The FDA said in a statement to USA TODAY that because this recall is categorized as a Class II, "the probability of a serious health issue is remote."
"Patients and consumers can continue using the medicine unless otherwise directed by the recalling company or FDA," the statement said.
