Six people, including a 5-year-old girl, were injured in a Baltimore shooting on Aug. 9.
Baltimore police said they responded to the scene of the shooting at 8:46 p.m. Shots rang out at Spaulding and Queensbury Avenues, an intersection in northwestern Baltimore, police said in a statement on X. They called the incident a mass shooting.
The 5-year-old victim was shot in her hand, and her injury does not seem serious, Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley said at a news conference. Another victim, a man police did not identify, remains in critical condition.
One woman and three other men were also shot, and their ages range from 23 to 52.
What happened?
A small group of people were gathered outside of a home in the residential area when the shooting began, according to Worley.
“It just looked like some people were sitting outside on the porch and, up against a vehicle, having some crabs,” he said. “And looked like somebody just opened fire.”
As of Aug. 10 at 8:30 a.m., police have not released additional information or a description of the suspect.
"We have very little information at this point," Worley said. "All we know is there's multiple rounds fired, multiple victims."
