Rod Stewart is recovering after nearly fainting onstage over the weekend.
The legendary singer, 81, was performing at a concert in Utah as part of his One Last Time Touron Friday, June 19, where he appeared to have a hard time breathing, per concert footage obtained by TMZ.
In the video, Stewart performed his 1981 track "Young Turks" while leaning against a piano and other objects onstage. At one point, Stewart turned to the crew backstage, with one crew member bringing out an oxygen tank and mask out to the rock star while several others came out to help as the crowd applauded. After breathing in deeply, the singer turns back to the audience and says into the microphone, "The show must go on."
USA TODAY has reached out to Stewart's rep for comment.
As he returned to center stage, he told the audience that he "nearly fainted up here" while "trying to do a … little step and the dance and everything." He added, ready to launch into his next song, "Would you mind if I sat down for this one?"
Stewart has battled both thyroid cancer – in the early 2000s, which left him unable to sing for nine months – and prostate cancer in 2017. And in 2025, the singer canceled several shows after a lengthy bout with the flu.
However Stewart's trouble breathing could be attributed to the high-altitude venue – Utah First Credit Union Amphitheatre in West Valley City, per TMZ – which sits at roughly 4,300 feet above sea level.
