A certain guest was notably absent from Donald Trump Jr.'s recent wedding, and Jimmy Kimmelhas plenty of jokes about it.
On his May 26 show, the comedian mocked President Donald Trump for his decision to skip his 48-year-old son's wedding to Bettina Anderson. In a Truth Social post, the president wrote that he wanted to attend, but "circumstances pertaining to Government, and my love for the United States of America, do not allow me to do so. I feel it is important for me to remain in Washington, D.C., at the White House during this important period of time."
"See, he can be warm when he wants to," Kimmel joked after reading the post. "He loves Don Jr., he just loves the United States more! He had circumstances pertaining to government to get to! And also, flying to a private island makes him miss his friend Jeffrey [Epstein], who he lost."
The late-night host did not seem to be buying Trump's explanation for missing the wedding.
"He golfs two, three times a week," Kimmel said. "He's going to UFC fights with Vanilla Ice, [but] he was too busy for his son's wedding. But [Trump] did say Don and Bettina are going to have a great marriage, and this is a man who knows a great marriage: He's had three of them himself."

"Poor Don Jr. Without his father, they had to scramble to find somebody else to make a 90-minute toast about windmills and transgender weightlifters," he continued.

Kimmel added that Trump simply "isn't a guy who likes to go to" weddings, only for multiple headlines about the president crashing weddings to pop up on screen and prove that statement wrong. "Oh, nevermind," he said.
Prior to his Truth Social post, Trump told reporters in the Oval Office that his son's wedding would be a "small little private affair" and that he would "try" to go, but might not be able to. He also said he felt that regardless of his decision about attending, he would be criticized either way.
"I said, 'You know, This is not good timing for me. I have a thing called Iran and other things,'" Trump said. "That's one I can't win on. If I do attend, I get killed. If I don't attend, I get killed — by the fake news, of course, I'm talking about."
Anderson and Donald Trump Jr. tied the knot on Thursday, May 21, according to a Palm Beach County, Florida, marriage license obtained by USA TODAY. The couple's ceremony was reportedly held in the Bahamas. The president's eldest son was previously married to Vanessa Trump from 2005 to 2018 and was engaged to Kimberly Guilfoyle.

The hosts of "The View" also weighed in on Trump's wedding absence on May 26, and they agreed that the president should have attended.
"A parent should never miss a [child's] wedding if they're able to, and I don't think people would have criticized if he did that," cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin argued.
Joy Behar, meanwhile, suggested the real reason Trump skipped was that he "has to be the bride at every wedding," and "they're not going to pay attention to him." But she quipped, "You know what? He can go to the next one."
