Nancy Pelosi underwent 'successful' hip replacement surgery after sustaining injury
WASHINGTON - Former House Speaker Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., had a successful hip replacement surgery after sustaining an injury during a trip to Luxembourg, her office said in a statement on Saturday.
“Earlier this morning, Speaker Emerita Pelosi underwent a successful hip replacement and is well on the mend,” Ian Krager, Pelosi’s spokesperson, said in a statement. “Speaker Pelosi is grateful to U.S. military staff at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center at Landstuhl Army Base and medical staff at Hospital Kirchberg in Luxembourg for their excellent care and kindness.”
Pelosi, 84, had been hospitalized on Friday while she was traveling with a bipartisan congressional delegation to mark the anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge during World War II.
The press office for Rep. Derrick Van Orden, R-Wisc., wrote on X, formerly Twitter, that he was near her when she “fell during an official event.”
Her incident comes after Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., had sprained his wrist and cut his face after falling on Tuesday in Washington.
